PRICING

Q: How does pricing work?

A: There are two pricing tiers: Players and Non-Players (NPCs). An NPC wont be allowed to play in the TTRPG games, get any loot, or attend our TTRPG events and thus pricing is discounted, but the NPCs are still important to the adventure!

Q: Can I travel solo?

A: You can! However all cabins are booked and charged as 'double occupancy' unless explicitly stated otherwise. This means if you want a room for yourself, you must buy two tickets. If you want to upgrade that room, you must upgrade both tickets, etc.  Some cruise lines offer solo cabins but there are aren't many and often sell out fast! If you need help finding a roommate let us know!

Q: Can I fit 3 people in a cabin or more? What is the cost for the 3rd+ person?

A: You can if you don't mind sharing the space! Depending on the cruise line the costs for the third and fourth people in a cabin can be extremely affordable, often you only need to pay the taxes and fees on that person since they don't require an extra room! Check with us for details!

Q: What is EARLY BIRD Pricing and when will it end?

A: We want to make sure that if you book early, you get the BEST price! Our early bird pricing only lasts for a few months after announcement though we often will run special DEALS throughout the year, but we lose our special pricing as we get closer to the sail date! Book EARLY if you want the best price!

Q: Are there group discounts?

A: Yes! Feel free to contact us if you are booking 4+ cabins at once, we are willing to work with you for the best price possible!  If you're bringing your whole table and want to run your own game we have special group pricing options where everyone in the group gets a discount! Contact us for details!

Q: Can I upgrade my room at a later time?

A: Yes! Usually the cruise lines will send you an email after you book to allow you to 'bid' on a better room - you can wager a certain amount of money (doubled for double occupancy rooms) to move your cabin up to your desired stateroom, but this is not a guarantee and you can not choose to opt out once you bid. It is a great way to get an upgrade for cheaper than the listed price, especially if the ship isn't full.

Q: What if I want to GM? Can i get a discount?

A: We'll do you one better - we'll hire you and pay you to bring your players along! We have a Paid GM program where if you bring a full table of paying Players (at least 6 people) with you, we'll HIRE YOU and get yo all the GM perks such as paying for your way aboard, a travel voucher to get you to the port, cash per table you run, and other perks!  Contact us for more information!

GENERAL CRUISE QUESTIONS

Q: I've never cruised before, what should I expect?

A: Food, drinks and entertainment constantly at your fingertips. Fill your days with relaxation, fun, and the EXCITEMENT of D3atSea's TTRPG games! If this is your first time DONT WORRY! We're here to ensure that you know what's going on every step of the way and we've been doing this for YEARS!

We do share the ships with the general public, but our events will be held in private spaces. There can be lines and we must share space with everyone else in a respectful way. It is a boat and can start rocking so do plan for that possibility!

We've crafted this experience to make sure you'll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the ship, food, drinks, and locations between your TTRPG games.  We have a whole community of experienced cruisers, FAQs, and live orientation meetings leading up to the cruise -PLUS we will all meet up on board (or sometimes at a hotel the day before) so you're never feeling left in the dark!

Q: What does my ticket price include?

A: All sorts of stuff!  Your cabin, your gaming experience, all you can eat food, a fancy dining room, all the ship events and amenities, free loot from sponsors and free giveaways, tons of TTRPG events, access to special one-off events, a group excursion off the ship where available, and special group events on board! Sometimes the adventure will include WIFI or drink packages too!  Be sure to ask about the included cruise benefits for the adventure you're rolling to investigate!

Q: What Cruise Lines does the D3/B3/GamingAtSea group use for sailings?

A: Royal Caribbean and Norwegian are our mainstays in the US due to their value and features, but we explore all major cruise lines to find the best possible fit for the group. We also work with multiple river and sailing companies in Europe for our European vacation experiences!

Q: Are there any additional fees on top of my ticket?

A: Most Cruise lines do charge a daily 'gratuities fee' per person that goes to the staff onboard, this is not included in your ticket price and may vary based on the cruise line and specific sailing. You can choose to pay this ahead of time if desired. After that, you don't have to buy anything else to get in on the adventure!

Q: What can I do on board for free? What food and drink is included?

A: There are always LOTS of free options for food and drink onboard that is included with your ticket. The same applies to access to certain amenities onboard like access to water slides and entertainment shows. We choose sailings that offer some of the best food and amenities that we can find so you get the MOST for your money.

Depending on the ship and sailing you will have access to multiple kinds of restaurants that serve different kinds of food as well as the AMAZING main dining room which is a fancier option and still free! Special diets can be accommodated upon request. Water, tea, coffee and juice is included in your ticket from various drink stations around the ship, where soda and alcohol is normally extra.

Q: How does the premium food, events, and alcohol work?

A: There are always premium (extra cost) options available on board like fine dining at a selection of specialty restaurants or coffee shops, various 'extra' activities like go karts or laser tag, and alcoholic drinks available at loads of different bars. These premium options will cost extra just like if you were going to a restaurant or bar anywhere else and prices will be listed for you to decide. Alternatively the cruise lines offer packages where you can pay upfront to get UNLIMITED alcohol and/or a certain number of FREE dining visits to the premium restaurants.

Q: Are the packages worth it?

A:  If you plan to consume a lot of alcohol on board the alcohol drink package may be worth it. There is also a soda package available in case you want unlimited free soda and specialty drinks like coffees and teas. If you think you'll enjoy the premium dining options available on your ship it can be cheaper to pay for a package than to pay the menu prices. We highly recommend waiting for the cruise line to offer sales on the packages before purchasing.

Q: When is the best time to buy drink, food, or internet packages?

A: It will always be cheaper to buy these BEFORE you get on board, so don't wait!  Some cruise lines will offer special deals at certain times so the earlier you book the better - we will let you know via our discord exactly when you can save some gold on those amenities!

Q: What about events off the ship in the ports we visit?

A: Access to the ports is FREE and you can explore with your party as much as you want! You can book 'excursion' events like nature hikes, access to exclusive beaches or waterparks, boat trips for snorkel or SCUBA, or just sightseeing, etc. These can be booked through the cruise line ahead of time and they CAN sell out!

You can also try to book these things the day you get off the ship but your options may be limited and you'll be responsible for being back at the ship on time before it leaves, so be sure to . Most adventurers like to just explore the local shops and food and drink, but if you have your eye on a specific activity be sure to book it ASAP!

GAMING

Q: What kind of gaming will be do on board?

A: Our world-class GMs will each have a multi-session tabletop experience planned for up to 6 people at their table, the story, setting and system will all be decided upon and shared with everyone as soon as possible. We will also typically have one-shots available and the GMs will also run free seminars to help YOU be a better GM or player!

Q: Are the TTRPG gaming events FREE?

A: Yes! The gaming campaigns and group events come with your D3 ticket! Several days of TTRPG gaming and other events such as seminars, panels, or masquerades are all included based on availability. There may be special events that do cost extra if we have some really amazing GMs or special guests!

Q: How can I be a GM?

A: We will contract you as a GM for D3atSea if you can bring a full 6-player table of paying players with you! You'll get all sorts of perks like travel reimbursement, a free bed in a cabin, free hotel room the night before, drink and dining packages, and MORE! Contact us for details if interested!

Q: What systems do you run?

A: That's up to the GM! We always have a healthy number of 5e games, but some GM tables may choose other systems if they wish! Monster of the Week, Kids on Bikes, Starforged, Call of Cthulu, ALIEN TTRPG, Fallout TTRPG, and microscope are just a few systems our GMs have chosen to run onboard in adventures past!  You'll be able to see what systems the GMs are running when you register and join our DISCORD!

Q: Do you run official events for Adventuers League or Pathfinder Society?

A: This is something that we can easily accommodate if there is a table that desires it, but most of our GMs like to prepare their own own content within their own homebrew worlds.

Q: How will I get details on the games being run?

A: If you've booked you'll have access to our DISCORD where all of that information is shared, but if not feel free to contact us and ask about the games being run. We usually will have all the details ready to share within a few months before sailing.

PREPARATION

Q: Is a passport required?

A: Typically it is not REQUIRED to have a passport, you can use your original birth certificate instead but it is STRONGLY encouraged to use a passport in case the unthinkable happens and you need to find alternative transportation back to the US.

Q: What should I do to prepare before the cruise?

A: Getting checked in with the cruise line via their website or app is CRITICAL! This is usually available about 3-4 weeks before sailing. Otherwise there is a massive amount of tips and checklists you can find online to make sure you're fully ready, and that you know everything you need to! You'll also want to print your documents and luggage tags before arriving at the port!

Q: When do I need to be on board the ship?

A: The cruise line will have you sign up for a designated boarding time that is well ahead of sailing, but be sure to be at the ship NO LESS THAN 2.5 hours before sailing. The cruise line cannot make exceptions and this is a federal customs rule, they WILL turn you away if you're late.

We STRONGLY encourage that you arrive the night before the sailing, we secure a hotel and get special rates for our groups specifically, plus we arrange for transportation to the port from there so you can start your worry-free vacation the night before the cruise!

Q: What should I take in my carry-on?

A: Take everything you can't live a day or two without - you may not have access to your suitcase for several hours on the first day, and possible longer in case of issues. This means your travel documents, cash, spare clothes, bathing suit, makeup, medications, etc should all come with you in your hands when you board!

Q: Is there parking at the port?

A: Depending on the port usually there is yes, but it can be pricey. You can use SpotHero or other methods to scout out cheap parking in town and then rideshare to the port from there. Many folks fly into the port city so they don't have to worry about parking!

Q: Where do we meet the group?

A: Once you get onboard we will have a designated place where you can come get your SWAG and meet the team before our first scheduled event! If you book at the hotel the night before we may even have a meetup planned the night before!

Q: What about getting off the ship at ports?

A: Be sure to bring cash (use the ship ATMs beforehand) and dont forget sunscreen! Towels will be provided, but you also may want to bring a hat, your swimsuit, and a watch! Be sure to get back on board before the boat leaves - the times will be posted everywhere as you get off the ship!

Q: When do we get off the ship and when should I book my flight home?

A: This answer can vary from port to port and sailing to sailing but normally noon is the earliest you should book your flight back home. In some instances it may be later than that. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out to the B3atSea team!
